Using subfolders in the Mods folder will only work after manually editing the resource.cfg file.
* If the downloads are package files, make sure the items are placed directly in the Mods folder, and not in a subfolder. You can make those Sims and Lots showing up by changing the setting for this in your Gallery (somewhere on the left in the Gallery). By default the Gallery will only show Lots and Sims that do not contain anything (custom content or something from an EP/SP or GP) that you don't have installed yet. * If the downloaded items are Lots or Sims, then you might need to change some settings in your Gallery.

You can patch your game through the Launcher. If the game has not been patched, then some creations (specially objects) might not show up ingame. * Make sure that custom content is not disabled in the start-up screen. The description of the creation should give info about if it needs a mesh and where to find that mesh. If you have downloaded a batch of objects, try clicking on items in buy mode and check out all the new color alternatives you have for them. They will not show up as new items in buy mode but will show as a color alternative, just like paintings do. * Often, objects are clones of existing items in the game. Firstly, double check the installation instructions to be sure that you have installed them correctly.
